Surgery on stem cells transplant held in Azerbaijan for the first time

The Training and Surgical Clinic of the Azerbaijan Medical University (AMU) implemented a surgery on the stem cell transplant on patients with a liver disease.

1news.az reports with reference to the press service of the AMU that the operation was carried out by a large medical team, led by head of the first Department of Surgical Diseases Training and Surgical Clinic, a corresponding member of ANAS, Professor Nuru Bayramov.

The mesenchymal stem cells taken from the patient's bone marrow have been transported to the liver by intraarterial method.

The team included the head of the transplantation department, PhD in Medical Sciences, Ruslan Mammadov, head of the radiology department Rasim Bayramov, head of invasive cardiology, PhD in medical sciences Galib Imanov, hematologist Naida Agayev, a molecular biologist and geneticist Farid Ismayilli, anesthetist Mamed Shirinov, resident Mehriban Huseynova.

Specialists are attempting to distinguish liver stem cells more definitely, and to see how they could be utilized to treat patients. This has to be taken place because the patients having a liver disease is facing a lot of problems and due to this treatment they will come out of this issue.
