Stem Cell Therapy Network's Summer Workshops Help Physicians Build Regenerative Medicine Practices
Apr 27, 2015, 08:45 ET from Stem Cell Therapy Network

LITTLE ROCK, Ark., April 27, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Demand for stem cell therapy and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy is exploding, and for good reason: Regenerative medicine offers hope for patients with a myriad of injuries. As patients learn that stem cell therapy and PRP therapy can be performed using their own stem cells rather than embryonic cells, they are actively seeking doctors who practice regenerative medicine.

However, many physicians are wondering how to implement these promising therapies into their practices. Now, they can get help directly from the experts. At two separate workshops this summer, David L. Harshfield, Jr., M.D., M.S., Stem Cell Therapy Network Medical Director and Chairman of the International Cellular Medicine Society's Institutional Review Board, and Luis Martinez-Rivera, M.D., MPH, president of Elite Regenerative Medicine Group Ponce, XanoGene Clinic Co-founder and President, and Ponce School of Medicine Clinical Instructor, will teach doctors how to use and successfully market stem cell and PRP therapies.

Dr. Harshfield and Dr. Martinez-Rivera will conduct regenerative medicine workshops through the Stem Cell Therapy Network (http://www.sctnphysicians.com), a regenerative medicine consulting program that provides training, protocol and procedure support along with a mastermind group of physicians who are practicing regenerative medicine in their businesses worldwide. The first workshop will be held in San Juan, Puerto Rico, June 12-13, 2015; a second workshop is planned for downtown Chicago later this summer.

The Stem Cell Therapy Network workshops will give step-by-step instruction on adding a biologics program to a medical practice. Workshop participants will examine stem cell therapy research and discover how to start or participate in a clinical trial. Hands-on training will teach physicians what to look for when assessing patients for PRP or stem cell therapy; how to harvest stem cells from the patient's own blood, adipose tissue and bone marrow aspirate; and how to treat knee, shoulder, hip, and other injuries that respond to stem cell and PRP treatment. Finally, Dr. Harshfield and Dr. Martinez-Rivera will provide protocols, procedures, and strategies for building a thriving regenerative medicine business.

Breakout sessions will cover the use of PRP and stem cells for male and female sexual dysfunction and emerging technologies and markets in regenerative medicine. Dr. Harshfield and Dr. Martinez-Rivera will cover other topics of interest as questions arise from participants.

"Having practiced cellular medicine since the 1980s, it has become an integral part of my practice. Nowadays, my colleagues are finding difficulty incorporating it into their practice. The Stem Cell Therapy Network allows physicians to concentrate on what they are good at, allowing them to not burden their staff with scheduling, administration, patient education and marketing tasks." - David Harshfield, about the Stem Cell Therapy Network.
