PITTSTON, PA (wvia) - Be part of the live studio audience as our panel of experts answer questions about Stem Cell Research on the next Call the Doctor on Tuesday, May 17 at 7 p.m. on WVIA TV.

Stem cell research focuses on using undifferentiated cells therapeutically to treat human disease and injury. When they divide, stem cells have the potential to become any type of cell needed, such as brain, blood or muscle cells. Stem cells are primitive or unspecialized cells that can assist in tissue repair and rejuvenation.

Millions of patients are offered new hope through the developments in stem cell therapy, gene therapy, nanotechnology and tissue engineering.

Our in-studio panel includes John D. Gearhart Ph. D. and Arthur E. Greco. Plus, live from Florida we welcome Dr. Burton Feinerman to Call the Doctor.

Dr. Gearhart is a professor and the director of the Institute for Regenerative Medicine at The University of Pennsylvania. He is a leader in the development and use of human reproductive technologies, embryo and germ cell manipulations and in the genetic engineering of cells.

Arthur E. Greco is the CEO of StemSave, whose mission is to make the benefits of regenerative medicine and stem cell science accessible, convenient and affordable for you and your family.

Dr. Burton Feinerman is the president and CEO of StemCellRegenMed, which focuses on stem cell and gene treatments for serious debilitating diseases such as Tay-Sachs and other genetic diseases, Huntington's, ALS, Alzheimer's, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's, brain damage, autism, heart disease, COPD, diabetes and chronic kidney disease.
