Iran marks 2000th stem cell transplant

Iranian researchers are slated to celebrate two thousand stem cell transplants and cell therapies performed in the BMT Research Center.

The ceremony which will be held in Tehran Heart Center on Thursday October 2nd, will be attended by the Iranian Health Minister, Dr Kamran Lankarani, and head of Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Dr Baqer Larijani.

BMT Research Center is the Middle East's biggest center for performing cell therapy and stem cell transplants, and the world's second most important transplant center.

More than 40 types of transplants have been conducted in the center which has released several outstanding statements on treating various diseases such as cirrhosis, myocardial infarction, MS and certain cancers using stem cell transplant

I congratulate them, but find it unlikely that many Pioneer members will be getting treatment there. It is amazing how much is being accomplished all over the world, however.
