Hi everyone

I just discovered SC Pioneers yesterday and am very hopeful by all the remarks about the X-Cell Clinic in Cologne, Germany. My husband has Parkinson's and Peripheral Neuropathy. We just recently got the O.K. from Dr. Etou at the clinic to get treatment.

Does anyone know anyone else who has PD and has had SC therapy? Also, are there any creative ways to finance the procedure and travel/hotel expenses? We've used all our savings, etc., with prior medical expenses.

A little help with the expense

Your husband's treatment is tax deductible including travel expenses according to tax experts that many of us have consulted and according to the IRS' definition of medical tourism. Treatment is expensive at X-cell and many other clinics. Some clinics offer financing. Dr. Etou is your best bet there for sure if you go to X-cell. Insist on having her treat your husband if you go. Is X-cell having good results with other patients like your husband? Have you been able to speak to any of them? I think this would be important. There are some companies offering treatment at lower prices. The key is what kind of outcome are you hoping to get? You need to compare treatments at several clinics and have discussions with patients who have been there. If a clinic is reluctant to give you referrals, then I would question whether or not they cared about me or my money more. We do not endorse any clinics on this site, but merely offer support and discussion and welcome you aboard. We also love to hear updates from caregivers and patients. It really is useful for others seeking information.

There are several clinics that are having some excellent results treating PD. Please let me know if you would like information on them.

X-Cell critique

I canceled my XCell appointment because of the lack of scientific justification and lack of dialogue they are having with the worldwide research effort. I was also advised by my German neurologist brother-in-law.
Subsequently justifying my decision was a 23-Sep-09 press release (in German) from the German Association for Neurology warning about stem cell treatment citing the XCell center. http://www.dgn.org/pressemitteilung-23.09.2009-2.html

A related German video is at: http://frontal21.zdf.de/ZDFde/inhalt/17/0,1872,7919313,00.html.

I am told by other patients who went to XCELL that Dr Etou no longer works
with XCELL.

Cheers

Thank you Zenyaw for your information. Could you possibly give us a recap of what the German article says? Have any of you with PD checked with the Brazzini Institute in Lima, Peru?

I ran the article through a translator.
Not perfect, but...

Parkinson's treatment

What type of treatment did your husband do for his parkinson's disease. I have been researching the types of treatment and have found 5-6 different methods of getting stem cells in the brain. The questions becomes which method is the most effective. Any ideas??
