Research on embryonic stem cells at a crossroads.

Bush is to blame for vetoing federal funding for embryonic research, but Geron found private funding to do the research. They are now well out in front of any other companies and rightly so. I don't have an opinion (that's a shock) on whether the initial treatments should be for spinal cord injury or not, but I think Geron execs have so far been astute enough that they don't need my opinion. I give gold stars to private companies that don't sit around waiting for the changing of the guard in Washington. They moved ahead on their own for the benefit of mankind.
