Scientists have reported preliminary evidence of progressive and durable donor-cell derived myelination in four children with a rare hypo-myelination disorder who underwent transplantation with purified human neural stem cells in a phase 1 clinical trial.

According to Newark, Calif.-based StemCells, Inc. (STEM), which provided the stem cells used in the trial, clinical assessment revealed small but measureable gains in motor or cognitive function in three of the four patients...
