Adult Stem Cells vs. Embryonic Stem Cells

The public perception is that only embryonic stem cells are pluripotent. The definition of pluripotent means the stem cell can become any other cell in the body. As babies we are all formed from our own embryonic stem cells. Embryonic stem cells are truly pluripotent. But embryonic stem cells also carry individual DNA. If you implant the embryonic stem cell into a person who is not a genetic match, the host immune system will reject the stem cell or the tissue it tries to become. This is a big stumbling block for embryonic stem cells being used for therapy. Pharmaceutical companies are trying to develop anti-rejection drugs to use in conjunction with embryonic stem cells.

Blog

Unfortunately, some readers from other forums started posting inappropriate comments on the blog. This blog is used by the Pioneers to post updates and information on themselves. We have felt it necessary to limit access to Pioneer members only because, quite frankly, we do not want these individuals to dampen our spirits with their hostile negativity. It is amazing to me that some of these people are so wrapped up in their own little world that they don't take the time to read, pursue information on the internet or watch television to find out more about stem cell therapy. This isn't something new! Where have these people been? It is sad that we have to do this. We will continue to allow a free forum here, but we cannot allow our Pioneer blog to become a place for these individuals to showcase their ignorance.
